A new monorail in the north of Moscow will begin operating during the first weekend in September to help celebrate Moscow Day. The launch of the new monorail is part of a long-term transportation development plan addressing the synergy needs of Moscow’s transport infrastructure.
In line with the Moscow 2012 Olympic Bid Questionnaire, the plan includes building new road, railroads, light metro lines and monorail roads throughout the city.
The Moscow monorail, at 8.6 kilometres, is the first of its kind in Russia. It will make six stops along its route.
