According to a poll held March 30 to April 2 of 768 respondents 77 per cent of New Yorkers say it would be a good thing for the city if it were chosen as host of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
Twenty per cent thought it would be a bad thing and three per cent were undecided.
Also, a proposal to build a new stadium for the NFL’s New York Jets on Manhattan’s West Wide, which would be the site of the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremonies, had mixed results. According to the poll 45 per cent of residents think a new stadium would be good, while 47 per cent opposed it.
