The Spanish Olympic Committee has chosen Madrid by a vote of 157 to 103 for Seville as Spain’s candidate in its bid to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games Seville.
Madrid bid for the 1972 Games and was Spain’s clear favourite because of its superior infrastructure for sports facilities, transportation and hotels.
Madrid also has experience with organizing large events, having staged several world championships in recent years, including last year’s Tennis Masters, the athletics World Cup and the Karate World Championships.
Seville previously bid for the 2004 and 2008 Summer Games.
