Madrid 2016 Launches “Dynamic” New Website

Calling it “dynamic, original, interactive, modern”, Madrid 2016 launched its new website Monday in Spanish, English and French.

Madrid’s Mayor Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon, said he is proud of the site. “We offer the latest technologies to the citizens of Madrid because, as well as participating in our bid, we want them to be perfectly informed about all the news and initiatives related to the Madrid 2016 Olympic bid.

“All the visitors will find complete information about Madrid’s Olympic project in a way that no other applicant city has tried before, with a complete primacy of the audio-visual information. Our TV news service will show the quality of our project to all the citizens”.

The Mayor added that the website is just the first phase of a project that will expand gradually until February 2008 with a new and upgraded design and contents.

The site is in five different sections represented by five giant balls with the Olympic colours of blue, green, red, black and yellow.

The blue ball is titled “welcome” and shows a message from Madrid 2016’s CEO Mercedes Coghen as well as the Mayor of Madrid and about 100 athletes representing all the sports in the Olympic program showing their support for Madrid’s bid.

The green ball says “our Candidature” and is divided into four different sections including a complete guide to the core of Madrid’s bid – the message and concept of the bid, information about the city, and the history of the Spanish Olympic and Paralympic sport, as well as the biographies of the members of the bid team.

The red ball shows the latest news about Madrid’s bid with videos and pictures. The articles will be available in Spanish, English and French while the videos will be recorded in Spanish and English.

There is a special section dedicated to the Madrid 2016 sponsorship program represented by the black ball, and the yellow ball has a section called “Contact and Volunteering” where citizens can send their suggestions and messages of support to Madrid 2016, as well as signing up as volunteers.
