Mercedes Coghen, CEO of Madrid 2016, handed in the Madrid 2016 questionnaire Wednesday to the King and Queen of Spain who inaugurated the 28th edition of FITUR (International Tourism Trade Fair). Madrid’s Mayor Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon accompanied her.
Coghen said, “it is an honour to count on the inestimable support of the Royal Family who already gave their all in the previous project, as the best possible envoys of the Madrid 2016 Olympic bid”.
Coghen also said, “we are proud to be present in FITUR, one of the most important tourism trade fairs in the world. In the following days we are going to make an effort to show that the city of Madrid is completely committed to the practice of sports”.
The trade fair hopes to receive a quarter of a million visitors. A Madrid 2016 media release says this data, added to the 13,300 companies from 170 countries that will be present in FITUR, makes Madrid the international capital of tourism.
Meanwhile Spain’s Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero also expressed Wednesday his total commitment to Madrid’s 2016 bid and pledged the investment and government support needed to realize the city’s dream.
