A foundation for Madrid’s 2016 Summer Olympic bid was created at a meeting chaired by Madrid’s Mayor Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon recently.
Those attending the meeting included the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee Alejandro Blanco, Secretary of State for Sport Jaime Lissavetzky, and culture adviser Santiago Fisas.
The Foundation was formed to organize Madrid’s 2016 candidacy in collaboration with the Spanish Olympic Committee which will be presented to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
The Foundation’s mission is to promote Madrid’s candidacy during the next three years and to obtain sponsorships and funding to ensure the bid’s success.
