A seven minute talk and audio-visual presentation by Feliciano Mayoral, head of Madrid’s 2012 bid for the Summer Olympic Games, was met with applause at the Olympic Council of Asia’s General Assembly in Doha Qatar Thursday.
Mayoral said Madrid 2012 has defined its candidacy as a compact and solid project with the Olympic Village, the city centre, the airport and 25 sports venues all being within 20 kilometres of each other.
Madrid’s presentation was last, following a draw by the five 2012 bid cities – Paris, New York, Moscow, London and Madrid.
The five candidates will promote their bids in the same order at other presentations and in Singapore in July 2005, where the 2012 host city will be announced.
