Officials of Madrid’s 2012 Olympic bid have been in contact with the Spanish and Madrilenian cycling federations regarding a study on renovating the Velodrome of Carabanchel and recovering the track to be used as the cycling venue, should Madrid host the 2012 Summer Games.
The site of the Velodrome of Carabanchel is 1,485 square metres.
Although the track is very old, it was constructed with rich wood from Cameroun, which can be easily refurbished.
The rest of the facilities are still in good condition, but there would have to be additional facilities built for the media and officials.
