To promote its bid for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, a street in the city of Alcobendas will be renamed Avenida Olympica (Olympic Avenue).
The name change of la Avenida de la Guindalera (the Avenue of the Guindalera) to Olympic Street was proposed by Pedro Ferrandiz and it has been suggested that a series of flags with the logo of Madrid 2012 be placed on both sides of the street to celebrate the 2012 bid.
