If Madrid is chosen host city of the 2012 Summer Olympic games, the city will host a green 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
Paz Gonzalez, Madrid environment councilor, said that Madrid will devise a plan of sustainability that will include an environmental analysis of the Olympic Games, the efficient use of resources in designing venues, and will create an ecological Olympic transportation network.
Also, there will be new green zones in the city and the schools will add conservation of the environment to its curriculum, in connection with Madrid’s 2012 bid.
Meanwhile, to promote its bid Madrid is hosting the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) championships in 2005 in the remodeled Sports Palace of Madrid.
More than 1,500 athletes from about 180 countries will participate.
