Madrid 2012 Releases “The Green Letter”

Madrid 2012 has expressed its commitment to the environment and sustainable development by releasing The Green Letter, “a symbolic declaration of our commitment to a cleaner environment”, said Madrid’s 2012’s Director of Environment Antonio Lucio.

One of the bid’s main objectives is to reduce to an absolute minimum any impact on the environment in the Olympic areas and the Olympic Village.

According to the letter, Madrid 2012 wants to “make the Olympic Games as environmentally friendly as possible. This involves reducing noise pollution, improving air quality, controlling the impact cause by transport, and reducing the emission of polluting agents. These also all form part of our commitment to the Kyoto Pact”.
