Madrid 2012 Head knows Madrid Has A “Tight” Fight

Madrid 2012’s leader Feliciano Mayoral arrived in Singapore for the 2012 host city election full of optimism, knowing he has a tight fight ahead of him. He said the race for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games is very tight and doesn’t listen to rumours that Madrid is behind Paris and London in the 2012 race.

He also discounted the media that has Paris in first place followed by London and said what was most important is the opinion of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) members.

As to the recent bombing of a Madrid 2012 venue, Mayoral said, “the security is excellent” in Spain and that terrorism is an international problem, adding that all the five cities bidding for the 2012 Games have a problem with terrorists.

Meanwhile Madrid is gearing up for the host city announcement July 6. The main train stations in Madrid will be decorated with balloons starting Saturday, that will simulate the five Olympic rings. Also the state-owned railway company will distribute 100,000 carnations to passengers on July 5.

Five inflatable spheres, three metres in diameter will be placed over the domes of the Atocha and the Nuevos Ministerios train stations. Inflatable figures will also be placed there and all will be illuminated 24 hours a day.
