Madrid 2012 Facilities To Be Environmentally Friendly

According to an agreement signed by Madrid’s city council and the Civil Engineers Association infrastructures and facilities needed for Madrid’s 2012 bid will respect the environment.

Environment Councillor Pas Gonzalez said the agreement will promote a more sustainable civil engineering that “will try to minimize or reduce the possible negative impact in the environment”. He stated that the Games have been planned as “a collective opportunity to reach the sustainability that the Madrid of the 21st century is demanding”.

The first of the specific agreements to be signed will be the sustainability analysis of the remodelling and development projects of the Peineta Stadium – the future Olympic Stadium – and the Manzanares Park Tennis Centre.
