Madrid 2012’s communication manager Jose Ramon Diez told GamesBids.com that “the Madrid 2012 office absolutely denies the news that appeared in the Independent on July 20…..concerning the supposed offer that had been made to British Olympian Lord (Seb) Coe to front Madrid’s candidature for the 2012 Olympic Games”.
On July 21 GamesBids.com published an article quoting the BBC and The Independent that Lord Coe had rejected an offer to head Madrid’s 2012 bid.
