London’s Lord Mayor Supports London 2012

A published report says that London’s Lord Mayor Gavyn Arthur will make a speech Thursday evening in which he will ask London to organize itself and commit to bidding for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

In his speech he will say, “if the bid is to succeed it will require a high concentration of political, commercial and sporting focus”.

Mayor Arthur will say the success of the bid depends on the level of support offered by the British Government.

He is expected to say “I therefore hope that when the Government makes up its mind, it will take into account the support and enthusiasm of all these public and private bodies across London”.
