London 2012, Paris 2012 Get More Support

Officials of London’s bid for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games have reached an official supporter agreement with Premier League Charlton Athletic – the second top-flight football club to support London’s 2012 bid.

The Charlton players warmed up for their game with Fulham in “Back the Bid” t-shirts and fans attending the game were given “Back the Bid” stickers.

London 2012 head Sebastian Coe said, “I am delighted that Charlton Athletic Football Club is backing the bid. Nowhere is our passion for sport more evident than on the football terraces and up and down the UK. It is this passion for sport that is at the heart of London’s bid for the Games”.

Meanwhile, SportBusiness reports that Lafarge, the world’s leading supplier of construction materials has joined 13 other companies backing Paris’ bid for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

Bernard Kasriel, Lafarge’s general manager said, “As well as being the world’s premier sports event, the Olympic Games are also a fantastic opportunity to boost more sustainable construction methods and develop them with respect to environmental issues and social progress”.

Arnaud Lagardere, President of the Paris 2012 Corporate Club said, “in just a couple of weeks the Corporate Club has welcomed three new supporters: Airbus, Accenture and now Lafarge, increasing its membership to 14. The organization of the Olympic Games is a great opportunity for France and its economy”.
