London 2012 Paralympic Ticket Sales Announced

The schedule and ticket prices for the London 2012 Paralympic Games have been released. Ticket prices for the sporting events, which will take place across 14 different venues, start at 10 pounds for adults and five pounds for those under 16 or over 60.

Tickets are on sale September 9 to September 26, 2011 and around two millions tickets will be available to the public. To date more than one million people have registered their interest online.

Tickets for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies start at 20.12 pounds, up to 500 pounds for the Opening Ceremony.

More than 50 per cent of tickets will be priced at 10 pounds, while 95 per cent of tickets will be 50 pounds or less.

There will be 500 gold medals awarded during 11 days of competition by nearly 4,200 athletes from 150 countries competing in 20 different sports, beginning August 29, 2012.

Sir Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) said, “the London 2012 Paralympic Games will quite simply be ‘Sport Like Never Before’. Our elite athletes will captivate billions around the world, will inspire millions and ultimately lead to societal change, and help alter perceptions of what can be achieved by a person with an impairment.

On September 8, the day before tickets go on sale, International Paralympic Day will take place in London’s Trafalgar Square showcasing athletes in action allowing the public a first-hand look at what the Paralympics are all about.
