Under a barrage a criticism from the British media claiming bid chairman Barbara Cassani hasn’t been doing enough to promote her bid, London 2012 has taken a step forward by launching its Web site.
The site – London2012.org.uk – is now online and provides basic information about the bid and Britain’s involvement in the Olympics. It provides quotes from athletes, officials and the community and provides an opportunity to send feedback to bid organizers. You can even apply to become the London 2012 receptionist in their offices at Canary Wharf.
Clearly missing from the site is an eye-catching logo and branding. But don’t worry, on Wednesday top designers will be meeting with the bid committee to take part in a logo design contest.
On Tuesday, Cassani admitted to a parliamentary committee that London’s bid has fallen behind New York and Paris after a Member of Parliament took out merchandise with New York branding on it.
“In some ways we are behind”, Cassani said.
