London 2012 Has 100 Per Cent Political Support

Prime Minister Tony Blair told the BBC that he was travelling to Singapore with the London 2012 delegation to stress the “complete 100 per cent support” of politicians from all the major political parties in the country.

Blair said during an interview, “the most important thing is to show people that the Government is absolutely behind the bid. All the political parties are signed up for it and 2012 will have total complete 100 per cent government support behind it”.

The Prime Minister highlighted the lasting legacy of a London Games as a major factor in his decision to support London’s bid. “There’s thousands of homes and thousands of jobs, there’s going to be a fantastic legacy. That’s one of the things I’ve been trying to say the whole time and I’ll say it again in Singapore”.
