London 2012’s bid committee announced that 27 businesses have pledged more than half the target of 10 million pounds in cash, products and services since the bid campaign was officially launched on January 16.
They include several leading national and international organizations.
London 2012 CEO Keith Mills said, “this has helped the London 2012 bid to reach more than 60 per cent of its target for corporate support in just a few months”.
The companies include EDF Energy, one of Britain’s largest energy providers, Canary Wharf London, several law firms, Microsoft, the Hilton Group, Avis, McKinsey & Company, and British Airways London Eye. Last year the Royal Mail donated one million pounds.
The bid will cost 30 million pounds to be split three ways between private companies, the U.K. government and the London Development Agency. Most of the money is needed for planning, architecture, administration and marketing.
