London 2012 Games Would Show Profit

A consultant’s report claims that should London host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games it would generate a profit. According to the report, the Games would cost 1.79 billion pounds but would generate a profit of 79 million pounds.

The report contradicts the leaked findings from the government’s Strategy Unit which suggested there was no proven economic benefit in staging international sporting events.

The report predicts that a successful bid would create 3,000 new full-time jobs.

Also, news that Britain’s Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and Britain’s Sports Minister are to leave on a tour of Olympic host cities to assess the impact of the Games has boosted London’s potential bid.
