Lord Swraj Paul, Chairman of the Olympics Delivery Committee, says that work on the London 2012 Games is going on ahead of schedule and the Olympics Delivery Committee hopes the gigantic project will be completed within its stipulated budget of five billion pounds.
Lord Paul said, “one of the most important works is the Olympics legacy so that people of Britain, and specially of London, get more long-lasting benefits.
He added, “we have done a lot of work within the cost. At the moment we are ahead of schedule and hope to maintain it (completion of the entire project) within the budget of five billion pounds”.
The committee has so far sanctioned projects worth 300 million pounds for acquisition of property and relocation of businesses.
Lord Paul said the committee is committed to working with local communities, business and other partner organizations to put in place the right initiatives so that it can fully harness these benefits from now until 2012 and beyond.
The Olympic Delivery Committee is a subcommittee of the London Development Authority Board with full-delegated authority to take decision.
Lord Paul said the salient features of the Olympic city will include the main stadium velopark, aquatic centre, athletic tracks, hockey stadium and the Olympic Village.
