London 2012 Announces New Program For Disabled Employees

As part of a recruitment drive by LOCOG to boost the number of disabled employees for the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games, organizers have pledged to interview all disabled applicants who meet the criteria for employment at the Games.

According to the Personnel Today website, the Access Now program also informs disabled people of the measures LOCOG is putting in place before the recruitment stage.

Paul Deighton, chief executive of LOCOG said, “we need our workforce to reflect the communities we are working for. Today marks a step change in our effort to establish LOCOG as an employer of choice for disabled people, something that is particularly crucial for us given we are staging a Paralympic Games together with an Olympic Games”.

David Morris, senior policy adviser to the mayor of London on disability, praised the new LOCOG program. He said, “I want to see more employers recruiting people from the disabled community and making use of their talents”.
