According to the results of a published poll announced Sunday, 25 per cent of German citizens want Leipzig to be the German candidate for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
Duesseldorf and Stuttgart tied for second at 19 per cent, 17 per cent of respondents voted for Hamburg and Frankfurt was last with 13 per cent.
The German Olympic Committee evaluation commission will arrive in Leipzig, the last of the five German bid cities, on Thursday to begin a two-day inspection of the city.
Almost 75 per cent of German citizens have endorsed Germany’s Olympic bid motivated by the country’s successful bid for the 2006 World Soccer Championship.
