Now that Leipzig has passed the national bid process, it seems the Olympic bid committee is seriously looking towards the international competition, especially the percieved early frontrunner – Paris.
Paris 2012 has already revealed parts of its overall venue plan which promises to be a very compact one. Now sports1 in Germany reports that Leipzig has promised to locate most of its venues within a 10km circle and will reveal the details by mid-July, possibly coinciding with the 2012 bid kickoff on July 15. The IOC generally prefers tight venue plans.
Leipzig’s mayor, however, has not specified whether any venues will remain in Dresden or Riesa – two cities that were part of the national bid.
