Leipzig’s bid for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games is getting a badly-needed boost. On Friday the German audit and consulting company KPMG became the second national sponsor of Leipzig’s 2012 bid by pledging 500,000 euro, only if Leipzig becomes the 2012 host city. After signing a contract with the bid committee, KPMG gave Leipzig 2012 a down payment of 200,000 euro.
Also, DTV, the German tourist association that represents regional and nationwide tourism associations, has announced that it is supporting Leipzig and Rostock.
Meanwhile according to a poll last week of German citizens, 58 per cent of respondents said that Leipzig had a good chance of winning the 2012 bid, 28 per cent questioned the city’s chances saying that another German city should have been selected, and 13 per cent had no opinion.
