Leipzig 2012 and other groups are working together to plan an Olympic weekend January 11 and 12 to promote Leipzig’s bid to become the German candidate for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
Dirk Tharichen, manager of Leipzig 2012, said Leipzig wants to show its enthusiasm for its bid.
Events during the weekend are free and will take place at Leipzig’s arena. They will be televised.
World-class athletes will be in attendance, and there will be recorded messages by representatives from sports and politics.
There will also be a 240 km. run around the region ending in the Leipzig arena.
