Leipzig 2012 “Mini Bid Book” Now Online

Two months after submitting it to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Leipzig 2012 has published its mandatory questionnaire response to the IOC on its Website. The document that contains detailed answers and charts to 25 different categories of questions will be used by the IOC to prepare an evaluation report that will determine whether Leipzig will be selected as a candidate city to host the 2012 Olympic Games.

The document reveals that 89% of Germans support Leipzig’s candidacy that will cost almost US$35 million. The bid boasts that 90% of the venues will be within a 10 km radius of the Olympic Village near the city centre.

According to the response, the Metro Leipzig area has a population of 1.9 million people and currently has 44,250 hotel rooms that will be expanded to 65,000 rooms by 2012 – should Leipzig be chosen to host the Games.

Seven other applicant cities for the 2012 Games have already published their questionnaire responses – often referred to as “mini bid books” – online on their Websites. Havana is the only remaining applicant yet to release their response to the public, or to publish a Website.
