Leipzig 2012 Gets More Financial Support

Leipzig’s bid for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games is getting financial support from several areas.

The government of Saxony is giving Leipzig’s bid 8.6 million euros for traffic projects.

And the Leipzig Chamber of Handicrafts passed a unanimous resolution to grant financial support to Leipzig’s bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Chamber will now be using Leipzig’s new logo in their communications until the end of July 2005.

The Chamber’s President and General Executive Manager Joachim Dirschka said, “not only will the bid be given financial support but the member businesses of the Chamber will also be on hand with their expert knowledge for many of our projects”.

Also, Leipzig’s Chamber of Commerce is now a “regional supporter of Leipzig 2012”. According to a contract signed by the Chamber and German Sports Marketing as licensee of the bid committee, the Chamber will provide the bid with 100,000 euros, 50,000 of which are to be used during the bid’s application and the other 50,000 if Leipzig becomes the 2012 host city.

The Chamber of Commerce can now use Leipzig’s logo in its communications and during events.
