Leipzig 2012 Drafts Bill To Protect Olympic Rings

Leipzig 2012 has drafted a bill to protect the Olympic Rings. The bill will be voted on and submitted to the German Bundestag.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) wants exclusive marketing rights to the symbol and anyone who wants to use the Olympic symbol will have to pay for it.

The IOC only accepts applications from countries that protect its symbols, and gives each organizing committee a billion euro from sponsorships and television rights if they meet the IOC’s terms.

But the German government is not in agreement with all of the IOC’s conditions. Contrary to the IOC’s conditions, the term “Olympiad” is not to be protected.
