More than 250 people, including 100 delegates, the bid committee staff and 70 reporters took off on a chartered plane for Prague to represent Pyeongchang’s bid on July 2 when the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announces the host city for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
Bahng Jae-heung told the Korea Times, “the delegation comprises many important figures from all fields of South Korean society, indicating that Pyeongchang is backed by the overall support of the nation.”
South Korea’s Prime Minister, Culture and Tourism Minister and Korean Olympic Committee President and the bid committee’s Executive President are included in the delegation.
Kim Jin-sun, the bid committee’s executive president told the Korea Times, “until the last minute in Prague we will try to explain the reason why Peyongchang should host the Games. I believe Olympics should be held at a place which can help expand the idea of Olympism.”
