Korean Women Use Cranes To Promote PyeongChang’s 2014 Bid

A women’s association in Gangwon Province folded 2,014 paper cranes and presented them to Kim Jung-il, chairman of the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC), to show its support for PyeongChang’s 2014 Winter Olympic Games bid.

The Women’s Council, representing women from 18 city and county committees across the mountainous province in Korea’s northeast where PyeongChang is located, also sent two boxes of paper cranes to the Gangwon provincial office and to the International Olympic Committee.

After they delivered the cranes to the KOC the women expressed their desire to remain involved in future Olympic bid promotions.

Reports say this campaign is only the first of a series of efforts by the women’s association to encourage and assist the PyeongChang 2014 bid committee in its bid to host the 2014 Winter Games.
