Kangwon Province South Korea To Launch Full Scale Campaign For 2014 Winter Games Bid

Kangwon Province South Korea announced it will launch a full-scale campaign to promote Pyeongchang’s bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

The Korea Times reports the province has started to plan the initial hosting process such as forming an Olympic bid committee and composing an application to submit to the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC).

The bid committee of county executives and provincial government and related experts will be formed next month.

Kangwon Province governor Kim Jin-sun will reportedly form a special task force in preparation for the first phase of the host city competition, and submit an application to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The province will continue to sponsor international events like the Dream Program, a winter sports experience program for children from warm climate countries, set for February.
