Jaca May Still Be Spain’s Candidate For 2014 Winter Games

Despite reports Monday that Spain’s Olympic Committee rejected Jaca’s bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games it now appears that the executive committee of the Spanish Olympic Committee will meet Wednesday to discuss a prospective Jaca 2014 bid.

The NOC rejected Jaca’s bid Monday based on a letter it received from Jaca that reportedly did not meet the goals of a Spanish candidate city.

In the hours since the bid’s rejection Eduardo Jose Maria Echevarria, President of Spain’s Olympic Committee, has been contacted by Jaca’s municipal government and the government of Aragon asking for a clarification of the situation which resulted in Wednesday’s meeting.

Eduardo Roldan, President of the FEDI and a member of the Spanish Olympic Committee, said he hopes that the new meeting serves a purpose and will not be a waste of time.
