The Jaca 2014 Executive Commission met for the first time Tuesday in Jaca’s conference centre to discuss strategy for Jaca’s 2014 Winter Olympic Games bid and Jaca’s 600-page bid book.
An objective of the Executive Commission is to touch base in the next few days with experts involved in designing facilities required for Winter Games sports including bobsleigh, luge, skeleton and speed skating.
Following the meeting officials presented their project at the Palace of Congresses to representatives of 34 registered sports clubs in Jaca, nearly 200 associations and many spectators.
Jaca’s Mayor Enrique Villarroya told the crowd, “it is a project of everyone, a project of Spain defined in Aragon”.
The Mayor told the crowd, “we have to continue working” to increase the public’s awareness of Jaca’s bid and to improve the bid’s facilities.
Antonio Fernandez Arimany, manager of Jaca 2014, said the bid was a great opportunity “for the development of winter sports in Spain”.
