Is Korea Interested In 2010 Olympics?

A report says that Toronto Olympic bid officials returned from a meeting of Asian IOC members convinced that Korea is serious about staging the 2010 Winter Games.

If this is true, it could be the reason whey Korean IOC member Kim un-Yong has ranked Toronto ahead of Paris to win the 2008 Olympic bid, only to deny it shortly after.

If Toronto loses the 2008 Games, many feel Vancouver/Whistler would be the favourite for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

But if Toronto wins, Vancouver/Whistler won’t have a chance for 2010, and Korea would only have to worry about a European city.

If Beijing becomes host city for the 2008 Games, it would hurt Korea’s chances for 2010 and could make it difficult for Kim to win the IOC presidential race on July 16. Kim is considered to be among the top three, with Canada’s Dick Pound widely considered to be in third place.
