Former International Olympic Committee (IOC) Vice President Dick Pound told BBC Sport that London is one of three cities in pole position to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
He said, “London has a very good chance. The city survived the semi-finals which eliminated some strong candidates. My senses tell me the Olympic chiefs are looking for the Games to be held in western Europe. I think that New York and Moscow have a tough road ahead of them”.
The Canadian also believes that London 2012’s organizing committee has chosen the right person to lead the bid. He said, “I think they’ve got a good leader and perhaps more importantly, an Olympic reputation”.
