Plans have been put on hold for the arrest of International Olympic Committee Vice President Kim Un-yong when it was learned that the South Korean official had collapsed late Tuesday and is now under intensive care at a local hospital.
Yonhap news agency reports that prosecutors will now await a report on his health before deciding how to proceed.
Kim, 72, is accused of receiving bribes and embezzling funds intended for an international sports federation.
Kim’s aide, Shin Dong-Soo told Agence France Presse that “Kim collapsed last night because of (a) chronic disease affecting his brain and heart”.
