IOC Press Commission Approves Athens 2004 Press Plan

Following a two-day visit to Athens, IOC vice president Kevan Gosper, head of the IOC commission, praised Athens 2004 executive director Spyros Capralos and the entire Athens 2004 Organizing Committee for the excellent progress made regarding the press and the media for the 2004 Summer Games.

Gosper expressed his and the commission’s conviction that Athens 2004 has both the will and the ability to provide ideal working conditions for the print media and the photographic press, but he pointed out that constant effort and vigilance are needed to achieve the organizational goals.

During the first day of the tour the members of the press commission visited the Media Villages of Amarousio, Pallini, Amigdaleza and Agios Andreas as well as the sports venues at the Indoor Hall and the Olympic Centre of OAKA.

On the second day Athens 2004 Games Press Operations Manager Costas Vernikos made a presentation of the recent achievements in the Man Press Centre which included the Games Information System, Press Conference facilities, film processing laboratory and Photo Work Area. He also discussed hospitality, transportation and media accreditation with the commission.
