It was revealed Friday that International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge won’t attend the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in March. The official reason for the withdrawal is that he has to attend meetings related to the Turin Winter Games.
But Rogge has reportedly been annoyed that Australia’s IOC member Phil Coles has been refused accreditation to attend the Games. Coles was accused of not voting for Melbourne when it was bidding for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games, which were awarded to Atlanta.
