In an interview, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge said the fact that Barcelona hosted the 1992 Olympic Games will not be a problem for Madrid to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
He said that all the 2012 bid cities should present a perfect technical report and build infrastructures that can serve the city after the Games if they want to win the bid. He called the race for the 2012 Games very interesting.
The president of the Spanish Olympic Committee said he will make sure that the venues can be a legacy to the city after the Games.
Rogge commented that although Paris, London and Moscow have hosted Olympic Games it won’t be used against them since there are other generations that have the right to host the Games.
He added that the United States Olympic Committee’s recent problems should not damage New York’s candidacy because by the time the Games take place the problem would be resolved.
