International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge said Wednesday in Rio de Janeiro that preparations for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games are advancing well.
Rogge is in Rio to assess preparations for the 2016 Games and to attend a New Year’s Eve ceremony at which the logo for the Rio 2016 Games will be unveiled.
Construction of the Olympic Village where 17,700 athletes will be housed begins next month.
Meanwhile Rogge also laid the first stone for the Olympic Village at a ceremony attended by several VIPs.
