The International Olympic Committee (IOC) gave a “glowing” endorsement to London’s preparations for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, but it said that the important challenges were still to come.
IOC President Jacques Rogge said following a meeting of the IOC’s executive board Tuesday that preparations were going “extremely well”, but the next 12 months would provide the real test. Rogge said, “the challenges for London are not particular to London, these are the challenges for every organizing committee.
“The test events that are coming up are a very good indicator if your teams are good enough and that is something I think this will be a great success because the fundamentals of the British organizations are good”.
Rogge added the IOC executive board was also satisfied with the preparations for the Sochi 2014 Winter Games and the 2016 Summer Games in Rio.
He said, “all lights are on green”.
