IOC Coordination Commission Visits Turin This Week

The Coordination Commission of the IOC is visiting Turin this week to evaluate Turin’s plans for the 2004 Games. It’s a follow-up to its visit last October.

On Wednesday there will be a plenary session at which president Valentino Castellani and general director Paolo Rota will present the activities carried out so far this year. Following the session representatives of the IOC and TOROC will divide into thematic work groups including accommodation, finance, technology, medical services, relations with the Olympic Committees and Olympic Villages, culture, image and ceremonies, environment, communication, sports and infrastructure, transport, marketing and security. Each director will present the results of the work groups’ discussions in a plenary session Thursday morning.

Tuesday evening Jean Claude Killy, president of the IOC Coordination Commission and the Commission’s executive director Gilbert Felli, accompanied by Castellani, Evelina Christillin and Paolo Roto, will have a dinner meeting with the mayor of Turin, the president of the Region, the president of the Province, the mayors of the Olympic towns and the presidents of the Mountain Communities.
