Innsbruck’s city senate discussed Wednesday a possible bid by Innsbruck, Austria for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, following the failure of Salzburg’s bid for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. If they decide to go ahead, they hope to get their bid in before a possible Salzburg 2014 bid.
Sport advisor Dr. Michael Bielowski said that Innsbruck is an ideal winter sports location that can offer a very compact plan.
There will be a special local council meeting on September 11 to further discuss a potential bid.
