A seven-member delegation from the Commonwealth Games Federation will be in New Delhi from August 3 to 7 to assess its bid for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Indian Olympic Association Vice President Sardar Mohammad Aslam Khan said India’s bid depends on the success of the Afro-Asian Games to be held at Hyderabad from October 24 to November 1.
New Delhi will be assessed on its existing sports infrastructure, the standard of its hotels, and stadiums. Khan said, “the team members will also go in detail the questionnaire sent by the federation earlier on certain issues”.
The host city for the 2010 Commonwealth Games will be announced during the federation’s annual meeting being held in Jamaica in November.
Khan said New Delhi had a good chance to win its bid because Hamilton Canada is its only competitor. The evaluation team will be in Hamilton this week.
