In a terse announcement India announced at the general meeting of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Sunday that the country will bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
IOA Secretary General Randhir Singh said in a press release, “the Association unanimously decided to bid for the 2016 Olympic Games to be hosted in Delhi”.
No further details were given, but the Associated Press reports that the Association is known to feel that the stadiums and improvement it is to make for the Commonwealth Games would help it qualify for the 2016 Olympics.
