Should Glasgow win the bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games, hotels in Greater Glasgow have pledged to cap room prices, even when space is at an absolute premium.
The move could boost Glasgow’s chances at winning the bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The Greater Glasgow Hotels Association has vowed not to increase prices artificially, believing a reputation for fairness provides greater long term returns than bowing to supply and demand, reports the Glasgow-based Herald newspaper.
A 2014 Commonwealth Games bid spokesman said, “we want a Glasgow Games to be the best, one that thousands of people from all over the world will want to come and see. That is why we will be working with the hotel industry to make sure everyone who does visit has a fantastic and affordable time”.
