Contradicting an earlier report, the Associated Press now says that according to U.S. Olympic Committee spokesman Mike Moran, there is no probe into a Sept. 6 meeting between Senator Hillary Clinton and Olympic selection committee representative Anita DeFrantz.
Moran said, “the USOC does not conduct investigations of U.S. senators”.
But the USOC is looking at e-mails athletes sent to members of the USOC’s board of directors promoting San Francisco’s Olympic bid. Moran said that the organization planned a “complete review based on our rules and regulations”.
Meanwhile, Howard Gantman, a spokesman for Senator Dianne Feinstein, refuted a published report that the Senator had spoken with Defrantz.
