According to published reports the World Fencing Tournament held in Havana did nothing to help Havana in its bid for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
It didn’t score any points with the athletes, officials and the international media.
The report says that even the local press criticized the event as being sloppy and bringing dishonour to Cuba.
The vice president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach was surprised by the low attendance and said he would have wished for more spectators.
Havana is running near the back of the pack of the nine cities bidding for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
